That question can be looked at from many different angles. I merely want to focus on one key aspect today: the destination. It was interesting to find out that there are basically two different types of home exchangers (at least in that respect). The pragmatic types and the idealists. Elsdie,
Your long-term home exchange sounds so inspiring! Have a nice stay in Scottland and thanks for sharing.
We are at present enjoying an exchange for 10 months in Dublin Ireland. We exchanged our home in Melbourne Australia as the young couple were thinking of emigrating but wanted to spend twelve months living the life to see if they were making the correct decision. We just wanted to be closer to the rest of the world.
Tomorrow we take off for scotland in a ferry and in their car for three weeks and have trips planned into europe and Britain later in the summer. Also friends are coming to visit us.
We are getting to know the neighbours and learning our way around. We plan to complete all the short ‘Wicklow Walks’ before we head home.
Thanks for your comment, Patrik. In a nutshell, you have described the charms of home exchange.
In my to-do-list I have added “actively searching for additional home exchange opportunities in Norway for JewettStreet members” so that some day soon, I hope, you will get your dream vacation in the land of the midnight sun.
Is it really that obvious what “open to many home exchange destinations” really means? I wonder how many people are catching the idea behind it:
To me, it means dreaming of a vacation in Norway, contacting people all over Europe and finally ending up with a wonderful and inspiring two week family vacation in the midst of the Pyrenées!
You never know what you get, but you know: it will be good.
